The world opened up beneath her paws, and she felt it. It shifted from crunchy pine needles to a luscious, softer grass that would have made a new pup slide on his unsteady feet. She inhaled deeply, the open air filling her lungs, and she sighed in exalted happiness. She began loping toward where she heard the lapping water, slowing down near the edge and placing her paws in the cool water. She bent her head, drinking the cool water slowly. It smelled fresh, undiluted and unpoisoned, unlike the human water she had known so long ago. She moved up to her breast in the water, which soaked through her long hair to the skin beneath, cooling it. She then turned and leaped out of the water, spraying the substance onto the shore as her paws landed solidly on the ground.
She shook herself slowly, in no large hurry to become dry again truthfully. She paused, slowly lowering herself to the ground and resting there. The sun overhead would dry her fur, she need not truely worry about it. It was then she delved into the world around her. Every different scent sent off a different signal for her. There had been wolves here, would be more wolves here, and possibly there could be wolves besides herself here right now. She turned her head, sounds soaking into her eardrums. The soft ruffles of birds in the woods, pawsteps some ways away. No sounds of hostility. She knew how to handle hostility, at least. She may be without her sight, but she knew very well where to rip another wolf's throat out should they harm her. However, from the scent markings on the edge of the territory bordering the Ithara packlands, she could tell it was neutral lands.
She paused, slowly stand and circling around to find a pleasent place to lay down, dry from the sun, and maybe take a nap. Her long legs covered ground easily, and she paused to stretch out underneath half a shade of an oak tree, from the smell of the sap. You could find spiderwebs on these trees, as she knew all too well. She had once walked head first into one. Spiders were not incredibly nice, so she tended to avoid them. Not a lot of creatures were nice nowadays. She supposed it was some hard times. Prey was a little bit scarce in some areas, Alpha's crueler than usual. She paused, thinking on this development. Ahh, how cruel a time it was indeed.

He yawned, jaws wide as the air rushed through him from the chest upwards. Though it was still daytime, the young male was getting tired. As what he thought would be a favour to Dark, Arein had scanned the outskirts of Ithara's lands looking for members of the expansive pack. Now, though, all it had seemed to accomplish was him being late and rather weary.
"Why can't the others just go to Eagle's Peak when they're called. It could take days for everyone to show up at this rate!" He growled, trudging his tired paws along as he ventured further out of Ithara's territory, and ever-closer towards Spyglass Lake. He sighed softly, trying to keep his temper down. It was so rampant, though, that he almost missed the scent of another nearby. Pausing, he sniffed the air a second time. Who could that be, I wonder... No Exile would dare venture this far from the mountains, even if it is neutral land. He mused, edging through the trees until their lines ended. Up at the Lakeside, he spied the other wolf in his midst. A female, alone. She definately wasn't one of the existing pack members...
Slowly, Arein padded up to the lake. It was neutral ground, so she shouldn't be too surprised to see another wolf around, but he didn't want to scare her anyway. He kept a little bit of distance between them before lapping up some of the cool, crisp water. It felt good, and eased his aches for a moment.
"Hey over there." He said softly, keeping on his paws in case she wasn't as friendly as he hoped.
((Not my best post xD Sorreh Keane.))
